Starbucks has announced the beta rollout of its Starbucks Odyssey program to the first Starbucks Rewards members and partners in the United States.
The project, which was initially unveiled in September, is an NFT-based loyalty program aimed at providing holders with unique, immersive coffee experiences.
In the initiative, users are invited to take part in activities called “Journeys”; these could range from a virtual tour of Starbucks coffee farms to interactive games.
As users complete Journeys, they gain NFT Stamps, which have points based on rarity, which they can redeem for IRL rewards, such as coffee products or access to exclusive events.
The first NFT Stamps are inspired by Starbucks’ heritage and classic designs, including its first location in Seattle and its “Gift-Wrapped Magic” holiday cup art and motifs.
Upon launching the beta, users will have access to the Starbucks Odyssey marketplace powered by Nifty Gateway, where they’ll be able to trade the NFT Stamps on the Polygon blockchain.
Stamps purchased with credit cards will come with an added bonus point, which will be added to the members’ total points, which are used to unlock special advantages and experiences.
In early 2023, Starbucks Odyssey members will also be able to buy limited-edition NFTs Stamps, with proceeds from the sale benefiting causes important to Starbucks partners and Starbucks Rewards members.
