SmartMedia Technologies (SMT), a leader in Web3 and blockchain solutions since 2018 and creators of the first SaaS platform that enables agencies, brands, and creators to build no-code, drag-and-drop NFT digital experiences using their proprietary Smart Web3 wallet, in collaboration with the functional outdoor brand Fjällräven, announced today the launch of the first-ever Smart NFTree: a geo-aware, 3D virtual tree that can be planted in any Web3 environment and admired in Augmented Reality.
SMT and Fjällräven are partnering with OneTreePlanted, a nonprofit organization focused on reforestation, to match every virtual tree planted with a real tree—an increasingly essential natural carbon solution that helps conserve the actual natural environment.
The blockchain validators execute the nodes consensus process on servers that run on 93% renewable energy, therefore adding an NFTree to the SMT Smartchain is carbon neutral. The remaining 7% is offset by carbon credits, resulting in a carbon-neutral activation. Every Smart NFTree is minted on the Enterprise BlockV Mainnet, a public, carbon-neutral blockchain that mints NFTs using renewable resources.
Consumers can get NFTrees by scanning a QR code on a TV commercial, billboard, or social media post. Fjällräven will airdrop their Smart NFTrees into retail locations to be picked up in a virtual treasure hunt, allowing users to interact with their Smart NFTrees for coupons, rewards, or flowers that bloom from the tree.
Smart NFTrees leverage the SmartMedia NFT brain framework, which allows each tree to grow at its own rate in an augmented reality based on external triggers such as social posts with the hashtag #SmartNFTreeSpring and text messages. The more users share and engage with their trees, the more they will grow. Users can collect, view, and interact with their Smart NFTrees via a Smart Web3 NFT wallet that works on any device or operating system.
