Reddit has chosen to celebrate the upcoming Super Bowl LVII by releasing themed collectible avatars.
The avatars, designed in collaboration with the National Football League (NFL), are limited-edition and free to claim.
Fans can pick one from four types of Super Bowl LVII collectible avatars: Champs, Chiefs, Eagles, and LVII Super Fans.
Because the collectible avatars are powered by non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Polygon blockchain, fans will need a Vault (a digital wallet by Reddit) to collect them.
Once claimed, holders will be able to keep, trade, sell, or use the collectible as their avatar on Reddit.
Reddit announced the debut of its NFT-based avatar marketplace and the first collectible avatar designs last summer, marking its official entry into Web3.
Last October, Reddit stated that users opened over 2.5 million Vault cryptocurrency wallets — surpassing OpenSea — and released an upgrade that made NFTs transferable.
