Recently, many brands like Nike, Adidas, and others have been eying the NFT space for a while now and popular footwear brand, Crocs hasn’t been excluded from the trend.
On January 11th, 2022, reports show that Crocs has filed a trademark application to get an NFT-based intellectual property for its new products. These products include; footwear, bags, and accessories.
The registration also includes; downloadable digital items with the use of blockchain technology and smart contract to manage, collect and store digital collectibles.
We can see why Crocs is coming into the NFT space. After its inception in 2004, selling millions of Crocs around the world with celebrities backing like Kim Kardashian and others, making Time Magazine rate it as one of the top 50 inventions. The company, however, has seen its sales decline recently.
Hopefully, Crocs is about to change the narrative with its intent to join the NFT space. People would want to have their NFTs customized on their footwear and accessories. However, Crocs hasn’t commented on this.
