The Polkadot blockchain recently achieved a significant milestone, minting a staggering 4,930 non-fungible tokens (NFTs) per minute, marking a new all-time high. This feat was accomplished through the Unique Network, a parachain of Polkadot specializing in composable NFTs.
The Unique Network was specifically chosen for the sale of NFTs associated with the Web3 game “Forever Has Fallen,” an online escape room-style experience split into episodes and seasons.
These NFTs, dubbed “Bounty Hunter Tickets,” serve as access passes to the game. Notably, the Bounty Hunter Ticket currently stands out as the fastest and most efficient NFT ever minted. In comparison, its speed places it within the top 20 blockchains, achieving the minting of 100,000 NFTs in a mere 18 minutes and 42 seconds.
This achievement underscores the efficiency of the Polkadot blockchain and its viability within the burgeoning Web3 gaming industry.
Polkadot, launched in 2020, functions as a protocol facilitating interconnectivity between different blockchains. It enables the seamless transfer of both value and data across previously incompatible networks, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, while also prioritizing speed and scalability.
The platform’s versatility has made it a preferred choice for many projects and NFT collections.
Notably, in March 2023, Polkadot partnered with Beatport, a global leader in electronic music, to establish an electronic music-focused NFT marketplace. This initiative aimed to bridge the gap between artists and their fans through NFT-based interactions.
Similarly, in September 2023, Diesel selected Polkadot as the platform for launching its “Metamorph” NFT series. The collection comprised 300 animated digital collectibles featuring music by Senjan Jansen and artwork by Artificial Rome.
