A few days ago, LG Display, the world’s leading innovator of display technologies, announced its collaboration with Turkish-American artist Refik Anadol to showcase his latest AI-driven non-fungible token (NFT) collection on its revolutionary Transparent OLEDs.
This limited-edition NFT collection, titled ‘An Important Memory for Humanity,’ incorporates video, audio, and health data from Inspiration4, the first all-civilian spaceflight, to produce a one-of-a-kind and evocative set of data visualizations.
While the vast range of colors, lines, and spots convey their daring trip into space, its representation on a Transparent OLED display serves as a reminder of humanity’s technical progress.
This cutting-edge panel technology generates an awe-inspiring holographic effect, giving the digital art pieces the appearance of floating in mid-air, providing an immersive media experience unlike any other.
The NFT art collection was recently auctioned off for $6.2 million, with 30% of the proceeds benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the buyer getting the NFT collection on a Transparent OLED panel.
“I understood how amazing the OLED can be for communicating data paintings and data sculptures,” said Anadol. “Especially LG Display’s Transparent OLED, is a very exciting medium because you can really see through the medium of data like a holographic experience while you are interacting with an AI.”
LG Display is the world’s sole manufacturer of Transparent OLED displays. In addition to digital art, the organization has used new technology in a variety of fields, including retail malls, public transportation, and interior design.
