French film director and cinematographer Pierre Morel, known for his work on films like “The Gunman,” is set to helm a new project centered around Reactor Motors non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
The movie, titled “Reactor Motors,” will be supported by industry figures Mike Bundlie and Barry Levine of Abstract Entertainment, along with Renee Tab of Sentient Entertainment.
“Reactor Motors” follows the story of geophysicist Eva Mason, who stumbles upon a revolutionary mineral called Reykium during her research on geothermal energy in Icelandic volcanoes. Harnessing Reykium’s unique properties, Eva and her team develop advanced race cars in a bid to lead the global transition to clean energy.
Their success attracts the attention of a powerful energy conglomerate hell-bent on acquiring the Reykium engine by any means necessary, leading to a gripping narrative of innovation, corporate rivalry, and high-stakes racing.
Introduced in 2022, the Reactor Motors NFT collection comprises 8,888 distinctive supercars minted on the Ethereum blockchain. Every Reactor NFT provides owners with the opportunity to energize their Reactor Motors Car. Each Reactor NFT features a unique Reykium Crystal, interior color design, container color design, and various other attributes. Holders can leverage their cars to compete on Reactor Raceway, an immersive metaverse racing game currently in its beta version.
In anticipation of Morel’s upcoming film, a new series of Reactor Car NFTs, dubbed the Y Series, is set to be unveiled for sale in the second quarter.
This isn’t the first instance of NFTs making their way into cinema. In January, Kevin Hart starred in Netflix’s “Lift,” where a thrilling heist unfolds not only for gold but also for a valuable NFT, sparking discussions about the intersection of digital art and crime.
Beyond serving as cinematic inspiration, NFTs have proven to be effective tools for engaging fans and financing film projects. For example, in 2022, the Forest Road Company established a $20 million NFT fund aimed at supporting independent producers in monetizing their content.
