Meta Platforms, Inc., doing business as Meta and formerly known as Facebook, Inc., has filed eight trademark applications for its logo.
According to the trademark applications, which were submitted to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on March 18, 2022, the company aims to provide:

- Blockchain software
- Virtual currency exchanges
- Financial and currency trading
- Digital, crypto, and virtual currencies

“These filings reflect the company’s strategy for moving into the metaverse. Meta clearly has significant plans for the virtual economy that will drive it,” Mr. Kondoudis noted. “Meta’s latest trademark filings will surely be of interest to participants in the financial sector and beyond.”
