Metaverse platform Zepeto recently revealed a strategic collaboration with Sharjah Media City in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to foster metaverse advancements.
In a non-binding agreement inked between Naver Z, the operator of Zepeto, and the Sharjah city government last Friday, Sharjah Media City will receive extensive promotion on Zepeto.
Under this partnership, Naver Z will contribute its expertise and deliver educational programs on virtual world technologies and related content to startups and creators in Sharjah.
Additionally, the two entities aim to collaborate on producing content featuring virtual artists and launching cultural exchanges through metaverse film festivals.
Zepeto, established in 2018, has rapidly become the go-to platform for younger generations to craft and personalize their 3D avatars while connecting with others. Boasting over 20 million monthly active users and exceeding 2.4 billion items purchased and sold since its inception, Zepeto has attracted collaborations with major brands like Zara.
Turning attention to the UAE, it has emerged as a global leader in embracing Web3 technologies. Dubai, in particular, unveiled its Metaverse Strategy in 2022, anticipating the creation of 40,000 new jobs and the generation of $500 million in revenue for the national economy.
Recent initiatives, including the formation of a collaborative Alliance, comprehensive Guidelines, and a skill-enhancing Pioneers program, underscore Dubai’s commitment to shaping and implementing its metaverse strategy.
In the broader sector, various governmental entities within the UAE, such as Dubai GDRFA, have entered the metaverse, offering virtual platforms for service requests and interactions. These initiatives showcase a commitment to leveraging innovative technology to enhance user experiences and streamline government processes.
