Paco Rabanne and Selfridges have announced a collaboration to embrace the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) by releasing dresses as NFTs.
Paco Rabanne debuted his couture collection in 1966 with ’12 unwearable dresses in contemporary fabrics.’
Now, the company is taking the concept of ‘unwearable’ even further by designing 12 NFT dresses based on some of its most creative couture creations from the previous seven decades, bringing the past, present, and future together.
Based on the number of editions available, each dress NFT has a distinct level of rarity, with values ranging from 0.3 ETH to 69 ETH.
Owners of one-of-a-kind NFTs will be invited to an exclusive event at Julien Dossena’s Paris atelier, where he and the French artisans who created the original heritage pieces will collaborate to create a custom physical version of the archive NFT design – made to measure to the owner’s specifications.
This one-of-a-kind experience will also include a VIP invitation to the next Paco Rabanne show, as a special guest of the fashion house.
“As Selfridges looks to the future, exploring the ways we can deepen the conversations between our customers and partners, we continue to find inspiration in the past. In the case of Victor Vasarely and Paco Rabanne, we have more than fifty years of proposals for the future to explore,” said Selfridges Executive Buying Merchandising Director Sebastian Manes.
