Orange Comet, a Web3 company, has announced a collaboration with William Shatner, renowned for his portrayal of Captain James T. Kirk in the science fiction TV show Star Trek.
The partnership aims to launch a series of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) called “Infinite Connection.” The collection features two tiers, namely Cosmic Explorer and Timeless Voyager.
The Cosmic Explorer series comprises 2,500 NFTs, each showcasing a digital Shatner as a 3D avatar, along with a physical, fully licensed Funko action figure depicting Shatner as Captain Kirk, from his personal collection. Each action figure will bear a unique number and hand-inscribed with one of five quotes in Shatner’s handwriting, such as Boldly Go, Red alert, Beam Me Up, Warp Factor, and We’ve Been Cancelled?.
The Timeless Voyager tier includes 1,000 2D NFTs. Each NFT is unique and pays tribute to futuristic technology and celestial phenomena. Purchasers of Timeless Voyager NFTs stand a chance to receive perks from Mr. Shatner, such as a 1 on 1 Zoom call, signed physical items, or recorded voice messages.
The pre-sale for the NFTs is already available on the dedicated website, with the Cosmic Explorer NFTs priced at $499 apiece, while the Timeless Voyager NFTs are priced at $99 each.
This move represents another big step for web3 company Orange Comet. In February, the company expanded its partnership with AMC’s “Immortal Universe of Anne Rice” by announcing the release of the Mayfair Witches NFT passes. Additionally, in August 2022, it partnered with Anthony Hopkins to release The Eternal NFT Collection, which sold out seven minutes after launch, becoming the fastest-selling collection in OpenSea history.
