Nationwide Mutual Insurance, an insurance and financial services company, has filed trademark applications for “Nationwide” and its slogan “On Your Side” in order to join the metaverse.
According to trademark applications filed with the USPTO on January 26, 2026, the company intends to provide insurance services in the virtual world.
Services will include providing information on policy prices for all forms of insurance and electronic processing of insurance claims and payment data, financial planning and investment advisory services, financial administration of retirement and pension plans, mutual fund investing, and more.
Plans also call for the launch of a website featuring personal financial information and financial advice in the metaverse.

This is not the first time an insurance company has taken moves toward Web3. Prudential Financial submitted similar trademark applications in June to enter the metaverse and the realm of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), while FWD launched its first NFT collection.
