MetaMask, the leading self-custodial wallet, will soon add NFT support to its extension, as well as a feature that would alert users when they interact with known scammers.
According to a tweet from MetaMask, the wallet — which already supports Ethereum tokens and decentralized apps (dApps) — will soon be able to support NFTs with an upgraded version of its browser extensions, v10.28.
Users that have enabled NFT Auto-detection will be able to see all ERC-721 and 1155 tokens, as well as send ERC-721 tokens, with the option to send ERC-1155 tokens coming shortly.
Soon after the NFT support announcement, MetaMask announced a cooperation with OpenSea and Blockaid to offer a scam-detecting feature.
MetaMask will be able to notify users when they interact with a known scam by leveraging OpenSea’s blocklist of known scams and Blockaid’s analysis of dangerous actions such as signature farming and wallet-draining.
These are just two of the many efforts MetaMask has taken to provide users with an enhanced, yet safer, experience when using its wallet.
ConsenSys, the creator of MetaMask, announced a collaboration with the world-renowned online payment system PayPal last December, allowing MetaMask customers to buy Ethereum (ETH) with PayPal.
