French luxury cosmetic company, L’Occitane en Provence, is re-entering the metaverse with a Christmas-themed virtual store, inspired by the French Alps.
The virtual store resembles a wooden chalet nestled in the picturesque Provençal French Alps. Inside this virtual space, visitors can explore a range of products across five main categories: Advent Calendar, Holiday Limited Edition Collection, Gift Sets, Fragrances, and Santa’s Wish List.
Within the store, visitors can browse and purchase products, and, for this holiday-themed edition, they can also add chosen items to a “Santa Wishlist.”
Customers who wish to share their wishlist with others can step outside the virtual chalet, where they’ll find a table and an interactive letter icon.
Clicking on the icon opens a pop-up in the form of a postcard, displaying the selected products and allowing users to personalize it with up to four Christmas-themed patterns and three message options. They can then add the recipient’s name and email address and send the postcard directly to his or her inbox.
The experience also enables visitors to take part in a mini-hunt to discover hidden items throughout the virtual store, with a 5% discount code for their purchases as a reward.
This initiative is the result of a collaboration with the virtual reality (VR) studio Emperia and the renowned artist Steven Wilson, who contributed to the 1960s-inspired aesthetic of the virtual store.
Notably, this marks the second time L’Occitane has partnered with Emperia to develop a virtual store. The first one, launched in July, centered around four of the brand’s signature scents: Lavender, Almond, Immortelle, and Shea Butter.
