Ledger has joined forces with Coinbase to introduce the Coinbase Pay feature on its Ledger Live app, providing users a secure and user-friendly interface for managing cryptocurrencies with Ledger devices.
The collaboration was announced through a post on X (Twitter) by Ledger earlier today, marking a significant development for users seeking streamlined crypto transactions.
With this integration, users can now transfer their existing crypto holdings and conduct transactions directly from their desktop or mobile device. Unlike most apps, Ledger Live stores users’ data directly on their phone or computer, eliminating the need for email and password sign-ins.
Ledger users can effortlessly receive crypto purchases from Coinbase on their Ledger device and maintain their preferred payment methods — including ACH, Visa, Mastercard, and Maestro.
To complete a transaction using Coinbase Pay on the Ledger app, users need to tap the Transfer button, choose Buy, compare providers, select the desired cryptocurrency and amount, specify the country, choose a payment method, and finally, opt for Coinbase as the provider.
This functionality is currently available in the US, UK, EU, Brazil, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and Singapore, enhancing accessibility for users in these regions.
The collaboration between Ledger and Coinbase signifies a joint effort to extend and simplify operations within the cryptoeconomy.
Ledger, established in 2014, has been dedicated to providing solutions for Web3 enthusiasts, including hardware and cold wallets powered by a Secure Element chip. These tools, combined with Ledger’s proprietary OS, offer enhanced security for protecting cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) against sophisticated hacks.
In its drive to encourage device adoption, Ledger has forged close partnerships with significant industry players. In February 2023, Ledger collaborated with RTFKT to debut an educational initiative and unveil an NFT that could be redeemed for a hardware wallet.
Coinbase, on the other hand, recently introduced “Instamint” as part of its efforts to enhance Web3 accessibility. This feature allows users to effortlessly mint digital assets by connecting their wallets and incorporating images from their gallery.
