The new release, Dogecoin Core 1.14.5, includes some significant security updates and changes to network policies.
Regarding the security update, the latest Dogecoin release contains fixes to some bugs that affect most Dogecoin users, including remote code execution in Dogecoin and sensitive information exposure on Unix platforms, which are operating systems for multi-user computers.
However, the most significant update in Dogecoin Core 1.14.5 is the recommendation of a new minimum fee for all Dogecoin network participants following reduced defaults for relays and mining.
This release recommends the following fees for creating transactions:
- minimum transaction fee: 0.01 DOGE/kb
- dust limit: 1 DOGE
- RBF increment: 0.001 DOGE.
Users, miners, and node operators will need to upgrade to the new release so that the update can fully take effect on the network.
