This year’s Copenhagen Fashion Week event is taking a step into the metaverse by incorporating a mobile-style game, thanks to a collaboration with Drest, a gaming company that merges luxury fashion, beauty, and lifestyle with the possibilities of the metaverse.
From August 8 to August 12, fashion enthusiasts will have the chance to style avatars and experiment with outfits from the latest collections of popular Nordic brands like Ganni, Remain, Cecilie Bahnsen, and Stine Goya using the style mobile game.
The game will present various challenges that involve styling model avatars with real-life luxury brands and outfits inspired by real-world events. Once a challenge is completed, the community gets to vote on the final look. Players can access digital wearables for free, earn them through achievements, or purchase them.
This initiative is expected to boost Drest’s popularity, given its recent success. The company secured 15 million pounds in funding in January and has experienced an impressive 250 percent year-on-year user growth since its launch in 2019.
The fashion industry has emerged as a pioneer in the metaverse landscape. In 2022, Decentraland made headlines by introducing the world’s first Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW), featuring prominent brands like DKNY, Hugo Boss, Dolce & Gabbana, and more. This year, the event continued to shine as the second edition took the spotlight, showcasing an even larger array of popular fashion brands.
