Christian Louboutin and Marvel have joined forces to release a new fashion collection incorporating Web3 technology, as a non-fungible token (NFT) will accompany each piece.
The physical collection — celebrating Disney’s remarkable 100-year legacy — blends Louboutin’s rich heritage with Marvel’s brand storytelling. It includes a limited-edition range of footwear and accessories inspired by Marvel’s iconic characters.
Every purchase from the collection will include a free, exclusive NFT to commemorate the partnership.
The collectible, dubbed “Sea Warrior Special Edition,” features a red version of the Sea Warrior strappy sandals — a centerpiece of the collection.
The Ethereum-based NFT was collaboratively developed with VeVe, a leading marketplace for premium licensed digital collectibles.
To further commemorate their partnership, Christian Louboutin and Marvel also designed a digital reading experience for fans. The limited-edition comic e-book, titled “The Loubiverse Explodes,” created by Marvel, recounts a tale about the collection while featuring some of the actual clothes.
Although specifics are still lacking, the dedicated webpage also mentions an upcoming augmented reality experience dubbed “Loubiverse,” which claims to combine art, fashion, and technology.
This is not the first time Marvel has adopted Web3 technology.
In April, David Maisel, the founding chairman of Marvel Studios, introduced the “Ekos Genesis Art” collection, which showcased exclusive hand-crafted artworks as NFTs. In June 2022, Cinemark partnered with Disney to offer exclusive Marvel Studios NFTs as rewards for Cinemark Movie Rewards members.
