YouTube might be the next big company entering the non-fungible token (NFT) space.
In a letter published today, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki stated that the company is exploring the possibility of incorporating NFTs as another revenue source for YouTubers.
“We’re always focused on expanding the YouTube ecosystem to help creators capitalize on emerging technologies, including things like NFTs while continuing to strengthen and enhance the experiences creators and fans have on YouTube,” the letter states.
Wojcicki outlined this detail in a recent letter to the YouTube community, including the areas in which the company plans to invest, such as gaming and shopping, as well as funds to support creators.
Wojcicki described Web3 as YouTube’s “inspiration source,” citing opportunities in NFTs, crypto, and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs).
So far, there is no specific information about how NFTs will be integrated into YouTube.
Though, it is possible that more news will be coming soon, like those from other large companies.
Earlier this week, Twitter announced that its users will be able to use their NFTs as their Twitter profile pictures.
Meta announced last week that it may introduce a feature that will let users display NFTs on their Instagram and Facebook profiles.
