Wrigley, the American global chewing gum company owned by Mars, Incorporated, has submitted a trademark application for “Juicyverse” in order to enter the realm of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and the metaverse.
According to the trademark application filed with the USPTO on March 24, 2023, the company intends to offer downloaded picture files, including images of artwork, confectionery, candy, or snacks authenticated by NFTs.
The application also mentions the provision of virtual confectionery, candies, music, and avatars for use online or in virtual environments.
Michael Kondoudis, a trademark attorney, tweeted about the application earlier today.
Wrigley is not the first confectionery brand to take strides toward Web3; Hershey’s entered the metaverse last December with “Hersheyverse,” a virtual place where users could complete quests and learn about sweet holiday traditions.
Mars submitted similar trademark applications for its M&M’s and Snickers trademarks in June 2022 in order to bring them into the metaverse and NFT space.
