Six Flags, an American amusement park chain, has ventured into the Roblox metaverse, offering a virtual experience that mirrors its real-world parks.
This digital initiative features virtual roller coasters and other attractions, allowing users to explore and discover rare digital items within the virtual park.
The virtual Six Flags experience is integrated with the physical parks through a partnership with Digital Twin’s proprietary “Coastercoin” software. Users can collect Coastercoins in the virtual environment, which can then be redeemed for rewards and activities at actual Six Flags locations.
“Bringing Six Flags to Roblox has enabled us to create a one-of-a-kind metaverse experience that will engage and entertain our fans in innovative ways,” said Selim Bassoul, CEO of Six Flags.
This move into the metaverse is part of a broader digital transformation strategy that Six Flags announced in April. This transformation includes a new website that leverages artificial intelligence for personalized experiences, a digital concierge named “Missi Six” powered by generative AI, and a digital wallet.
The digital wallet will replace physical ones, allowing guests to access their loyalty benefits and use their preferred payment methods via the app, smartwatch, or wristbands across all theme and water parks.
The trend of entertainment companies exploring metaverse technologies is not new. In 2022, Disney’s former CEO Bob Chapek announced that Disney+ might evolve into an immersive lifestyle platform, allowing users to experience rides in virtual reality.
