In a recent announcement, Nike revealed a new partnership with video game developer EA Sports as part of their venture into Web3.
This collaboration aims to bring Nike’s .SWOOSH non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to life within EA Sports experiences, offering fans a truly immersive sports and entertainment encounter.
While specific details have not yet been disclosed, Nike’s statement confirms that their NFTs will be integrated into future EA Sports titles. Further information regarding this joint effort will be unveiled in the coming months.
Nike initially introduced its Web3 project, .SWOOSH, back in November 2022. The project serves as a metaverse lab for housing all of Nike’s virtual fashion creations. Earlier this year, .SWOOSH launched an inaugural contest, inviting talented designers to submit their work for a chance to win cash prizes and have their designs transformed into virtual creations.
In April, Nike made headlines with the release of its first .SWOOSH NFT airdrop, featuring a unique collection of 106,453 Our Force 1 Posters.
Beyond the .SWOOSH initiative, Nike has been actively engaged in the Web3 space. Since acquiring Web3 studio RTFKT in February 2022, the brand has been involved in numerous NFT releases. One notable release was “MNLTH,” an NFT box containing a digital pair of Nike Dunk sneakers, dubbed “Cryptokicks.” These sneakers came in various colors and styles.
More recently, in March 2023, Nike and RTFKT joined forces to launch an Air Force 1 collection that seamlessly blended physical sneakers with NFTs. This collection featured limited-edition designs by renowned Japanese artist Takashi Murakami.
