Animoca Brands’ main Web3 project, Mocaverse, has made its debut in The Sandbox metaverse with the launch of a virtual experience called “Mocaland.”
The space — accessible from August 7 to 20 — allows users to engage in various user-generated content (USG) experiences, where they can earn Mocaverse Realm Points (RP) and exclusive rewards.
Mocaland features a range of activities for players to participate in. Among them are “Cosmic Chaos,” an arcade-style game involving spaceships; “Rocketeers,” a multiplayer game focused on restoring spacecraft; and “Color Run,” a competitive game where players join teams to cover most surfaces with paint.
In celebration of Mocaland’s launch, verified participants who complete 65 or more quests will have the opportunity to share in 30,000 SAND rewards. Additionally, they can earn a Mocaverse non-fungible token (NFT) with 47,554.52 $MOCA coins attached, a Mocaverse-themed NFT asset, and Realm Points that can be used within the Mocaverse ecosystem.
The launch of Mocaland represents another step in the expansion of the Mocaverse project. Originally introduced in 2022 with a collection of 8,888 PFP NFTs, the project quickly gained traction, generating over $5.6 million in sales within the first 48 hours of minting.
Since then, Mocaverse has evolved into a more comprehensive ecosystem, where users are identified through their unique Moca ID and can participate in a variety of exclusive experiences.
In September 2023, Animoca Brands raised $20 million in funding, led by CMCC Global, to further develop Mocaverse. This financial boost came shortly before the project listed its MOCA Coin on various exchanges, resulting in a 990% price surge and a trading volume of $54 million in July 2024.
