Manchester United, one of the world’s most popular football clubs with 66 major trophies won between 1878 and 2022, has announced that it will gift its first-ever non-fungible token (NFT) to fans.
The NFT will be gifted in celebration of the Club’s plans to build a new Web3 community aimed at educating, rewarding, and uniting fans through digital and in-person experiences.
The Cub will, in particular, provide detailed educational materials to help fans understand how Web3 and NFTs can benefit both match-goers and international supporters.
The launch of a Discord channel will boost education and community growth. Members will be able to interact with the Club, players, legends, and thousands of other like-minded fans.
Other NFTs will be launched during the season and will be available for purchase on the platform. The forthcoming NFTs will each have a unique design that is inspired by the Club’s history, with some unlocking additional fan experiences.
Each NFT will cost £30, with 20% of the sales going to the Manchester United Foundation, which uses football to engage and inspire young people to achieve a better life for themselves and to unify their communities.
