American worldwide clothing and accessories retailer Gap announced today the global release of its third series of limited-edition non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in collaboration with contemporary artist and former professional soccer player Demit Omphroy.
Demit’s painting reflects life in brilliant hues and an expressionistic manner, as seen through the eyes of his inner child.
The experience will begin on June 7 at 9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET with three gamified level drops:
- Common will be on sale for a limited time for 2 tez (XTZ).
- Rare will be on sale starting June 9 for 8 tez (XTZ).
- Epic on June 14 for 50 tez (XTZ).
The digital collectibles will be available on gap.com/nft. Rare and Epic levels will be available in more limited editions.
On June 15, the one-of-a-kind digital auction will begin, featuring single edition digital art and a custom, hand-painted Gap denim jacket by Demit.
In July, Gap x DOGAMÍ NFT wearables will launch as the first fashion collaboration in the petaverse. Digital Gap brand sweatshirts made exclusively for DOGAMÍ avatars will encourage users to express their virtual pet’s unique style, which will have a direct influence on game stats.
Both the Gap Threads marketplace and DOGAMÍ are based on Tezos, a more energy-efficient blockchain that allows for reduced energy use and a low carbon imprint.
After launching its gamified NFTs in January, Gap is now continuing to experiment in this space, furthering its commitment to its sustainability values as well as creativity and innovation.
