Folgers, a brand of ground, instant, and single-use pod coffee produced and sold in the United States, has filed four trademark applications for “Folgers” and “Cafe Bustelo” to enter the metaverse and non-fungible token (NFT) space.
According to the trademark applications, submitted to the USPTO on August 18, the company plans to offer:
- Digital media, namely downloadable audio and video files featuring artwork, text, audio content, and video content in the field of coffee;
- Downloadable image files containing coffee authenticated by NFTs;
- Computer programs featuring coffee for use in virtual worlds;
- Entertainment services, namely providing virtual coffee for use in virtual environments created for entertainment purposes.
The news was shared earlier today via Twitter by metaverse trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.

In addition to Folgers, other big companies have recently filed trademark applications to enter the metaverse with virtual food and drinks, such as Red Bull, Wingstop, UTZ, Conagra Brands, Panera Bread, McDonald’s, and many others.
