Etihad Airways, the UAE’s second flag carrier airline, has announced the launch of its first non-fungible token (NFT) collection.
The collection, dubbed ‘EY-ZERO1,’ comprises 2,003 limited-edition collectibles, symbolizing the year Etihad Airways in which was founded, and features 10 extremely accurate 3D aircraft models, each representing a distinctive Etihad Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner livery.
EY-ZERO1 will be minted on the energy-efficient Polygon blockchain, and Etihad Airways will collaborate with Aerial.is to track the NFTs’ CO2 emissions. In addition to offsetting the total carbon footprint of the project, all proceeds from the NFT sale will be used to purchase sustainable aviation fuel in 2022.
The EY-ZERO1 NFT collection will be available at etihad.arcube.io on July 21 at 6 p.m. UAE time. Each NFT will cost $349 plus tax, and the sale will end on August 18 at 6 p.m. UAE time.
NFT holders will receive automatic Etihad Guest Silver tier membership for a year, with 10 fortunate NFT holders receiving complimentary Etihad airline tickets. NFT owners will also get first access to future NFT collections as well as future metaverse products planned by the airline as part of its Web3 strategy.
To commemorate the launch of the new collection, Etihad will give away 20 NFTs to individuals who pre-register on etihad.com/zero1 before July 16th.
