Snoop Dogg and Eminem will bring their Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFTs to the VMAs this Sunday, performing from inside Yuga Labs’ gamified, interoperable metaverse “Otherside,” which is currently under development.
According to MTV and Yuga Labs, the rap artists will perform their single “From the D to the LBC,” which was released on June 24, 2022. This is the first time the two rappers have worked together in almost 20 years, having previously performed on the track “Bitch Please II” from The Marshall Mathers LP (2000).
Both stars have been active in many Web3 initiatives. Eminem paid $452K for the Bored Ape Yacht Club #9055 NFT in January.
Snoop Dogg joined the Boring Ape Yacht Club last year after acquiring a complete set, which included a Boring Ape, an M1 and M2 mutant, and a Boring Ape Kennel Club.
Snoop Dogg also collaborated with BossLogic to release his limited-edition SUPERCUZZ NFT collection on MakersPlace, and he joined Food Fighters Universe for the opening of a BAYC NFT-themed dessert restaurant in Los Angeles.
MTV Video Music Awards has opened new doors for the music industry in the Web3, offering affirmed and emerging music artists a chance to offer their fans a new, fully-immersive experience after announcing the introduction of a new category, “Best Metaverse Performance,” to recognize the best music performances in the metaverse.
