The Sandbox has announced a collaboration with Japanese animation company Toei Animation to integrate its productions into its metaverse.
Toei Animation is the firm behind iconic cartoons from the 1990s and 2000s such as Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Digimon, The Transformers, and many more.
The collaboration with The Sandbox would allow Toei Animation’s worldview and most popular characters to be brought to the metaverse, bringing them back to life in a new and more immersive dimension.
The metaverse experiences — which will also feature themed games — will be developed in collaboration with Minto, a production company that focuses on emerging technologies like SNS, webtoon, and Web3.
To celebrate this collaboration, The Sandbox delivered limited-edition NFTs (unrelated to Toei Animation’s content) to the first 1,000 registrants; the limit of entries was reached after a few hours.
The Sandbox — along with Roblox and Decentraland — is now one of the major metaverse platforms, and this cooperation adds to the many others already established by the company in an endeavor to develop its metaverse and give users thrilling virtual adventures and experiences.
In this regard, The Sandbox signed an MOU with the Saudi Arabia Digital Government Authority (DGA) during this year’s LEAP conference, with specifics regarding the partnership still to be disclosed.
