Bitwise Asset Management, the world’s largest crypto index fund manager, has launched a new advertising campaign focusing on Ethereum, allowing users to mint the ads as non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
The ad campaign features a series of themed video ads that showcase the capabilities of the Ethereum blockchain.
These videos, realized in collaboration with Los Angeles-based creative agency Studio City PXL and production company Revolver Films, will be broadcast on several major business news networks and other paid channels across the United States.
Victoria Kulbanska Anderson, Bitwise’s Head of Growth Marketing, emphasized the goal of the campaign. “Ethereum is the world’s most versatile blockchain,” she said. “With this campaign, we wanted to bring that versatility to life in a memorable way.”
As part of the campaign, Bitwise is offering users the opportunity to mint these ads as NFTs on Zora, an Ethereum-based platform. These NFTs will be available as low-cost, open-editions.
The proceeds from the NFT minting will benefit the Protocol Guild, an organization that supports Ethereum open-source developers, as well as the actors featured in the videos, including American comedian and actor Jamie Kaler and theater performer Michael Tacconi.
This is the first time an advertising campaign has been minted as an NFT, although there have been other instances of advertising involving NFTs.
For instance, in 2022, a Kia advertisement for the 2023 Soul included a QR code viewers could scan to collect Kia-themed NFTs. That same year, Clinique partnered with Daz 3D to launch its first makeup NFT campaign, “Metaverse More Like Us,” promoting a more inclusive metaverse.
Last year, Moncler and Adidas collaborated on “The Art of Explorers” campaign, which combined fashion, NFTs, and AI-generated art.
