Following their partnership announcement in 2022, Mattel, the creator of Barbie, and Boss Beauties, an NFT project focused on empowering women, are gearing up for the release of their Barbie-themed NFT collection.
The NFTs showcase digital cartoon women in the distinctive Boss Beauties style, with Barbie-themed accessories representing over 250 professions from Barbie’s diverse career lineup — such as photographer, painter, astronaut, and doctor. This collection aims to pay homage to these professions and empower women.
The NFTs are categorized into different rarity levels, ranging from Common to Exclusive. They will be available in packs, each containing four virtual collectibles from the expansive selection of professions. The packs will be priced at $25 and consist of two Common collectibles, one Uncommon collectible, and the possibility of obtaining one Rare, Super Rare, Ultra Rare, or Exclusive NFT.
Holders of these NFTs will enjoy additional perks, including physical merchandise and access to virtual Career Conversations with accomplished women leaders from various professional fields.
The Boss Beauties x Barbie virtual collectibles are minted on the Flow blockchain network, chosen for its efficient and cost-effective transaction capabilities.
The collection will be released on Mattel Creations, the official NFT marketplace of Mattel, starting from May 18, 2023. A limited number of collectibles were made available for pre-access on May 10, 2023, and they quickly sold out.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t Mattel’s first venture into Web3. In November 2022, the company launched the NFT marketplace Mattel Creations, introducing its inaugural collection. Just last month, Mattel announced an update to the Mattel Creations NFT platform, which include the introduction of a virtual collectible peer-to-peer marketplace.
