To commemorate the 20th anniversary of its Wildlife Warriors, Australia Zoo has teamed with Meadow Labs, an Australian technology company, to create its first NFT initiative.
Steve and Terri Irwin founded Wildlife Warriors in 2002 to involve and incorporate other loving individuals in the preservation of injured, threatened, or endangered wildlife, from individual animals to entire species.
Today, Wildlife Warriors continues to defend the precious lives of our wildlife, with eleven global conservation programs and three enormous conservation sites, carrying on Steve’s ambition to rescue one, and save the species.
The NFT project will comprise a series of drops, each focused on a different species from the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors.
Australia Zoo is excited to launch the Wildlife Warriors NFT project with Meadow Labs and Algorand, the world’s first carbon-negative blockchain. The NFTs will be created at random, will be non-deterministic, utility-driven, and will be 100% unique to the customer (no duplicates).
The NFTs are built on Algorand, the world’s first carbon-neutral blockchain with transaction costs of 0.01 gas (transaction fees get converted into carbon offsets).
Each series raises donations to help rescue the lives of endangered and injured animals while honoring Steve Irwin’s purpose of saving wildlife and natural areas.
The NFTs are available worldwide and may be acquired with fiat on-ramping via MoonPay. Customers will be able to purchase cryptocurrencies straight from the bespoke website, streamlining the procedure and making NFTs more widely available.
Robert Irwin of Australia Zoo said, “At Australia Zoo we’re always open to new ways that can help continue our Wildlife Warriors mission. Any innovation that can help our conservation efforts, particularly one that shares our vision of protecting the planet, is something we’re thrilled to support. This green chain and new technology allows us a new avenue to continue to fight for the protection of our wildlife and wild places.”
Martin Kelly, co-founder and CEO of Meadow Labs said, “We’re excited to partner with Australia Zoo in their first foray into Web3 and their mission of fighting for the planet’s wildlife and wild places, one NFT at a time.
