Amazon is taking steps to be heard within Web3: the e-commerce giant has unveiled a collaboration with NFT project Superplastic.
Amazon has led a $20 million Series A investment in Superplastic — together with other major investors such as Google Ventures, Galaxy Digital, Sony, Animoca Brands, and others — which will fund the project’s development.
But that’s not all. Amazon Studios is in talks with Superplastic about creating a show based on its major celebrity characters, Janky and Guggimon.
The series, titled “The Janky & Guggimon Show,” will follow the two main characters on their exploits as they strive for riches and fame while leaving a path of havoc and ruin in their wake.
The show will be accessible exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories across the world.
With this release, Superplastic could boost the popularity of its characters, while Amazon could move closer to the Web3 world — which the firm has hinted at with reports of an NFT initiative coming this spring.
This is not the first time Superplastic has made the news. It is the first Web3 company with which Gucci collaborated on the launch of its first NFT collection, “SuperGucci.”
Following that, Superplastic also collaborated with Paris Hilton to release the “Paris: Past Lives, New Beginnings” NFT series, with one of the NFTs selling for 68.88 ETH, or $188,892.
